Why Android Does Not Have a Built-in Water Eject Feature
Apple Watch introduced Water Lock in 2016 with watchOS 3, embedding a 165 Hz tone directly into the operating system to eject water after swimming. Several Android manufacturers have noticed this and added their own equivalents, but there is no universal Android water eject feature built into stock Android or Google’s Pixel software as of 2025.
Samsung: Built-in Speaker Cleaning Mode
Samsung is the only major Android manufacturer to include a built-in speaker cleaning feature, available on recent Galaxy S and Z series phones. This makes Samsung the closest Android equivalent to Apple Watch’s Water Lock.
Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Others
Google Pixel phones, Xiaomi devices, OnePlus phones, Motorola, Sony Xperia, and most other Android brands do not include any built-in speaker water eject tool. Our browser-based tool fills this gap entirely. It works on Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox, and any other modern Android browser.

How to Eject Water from Your Android Speaker
The process works identically on every Android phone. Here are the exact steps:

Open Chrome, Samsung Internet, or any browser on the wet Android phone and navigate to ejectwater.com. If the screen is responding slowly due to moisture on the display, dry your fingers and the screen surface before tapping. The tool loads instantly with no installation required.

Press the volume up button repeatedly until it shows maximum. On Android, make sure you are raising the media volume, not the ringtone or call volume. You can confirm by playing a short video or song to verify the right volume channel is at max. This is the single most important thing you can do to improve results.

Water Eject Samsung: Speaker Cleaning and Browser Tool
Samsung is the most feature-rich Android option for water ejection. Recent Galaxy phones include a built-in Speaker Cleaning mode that works similarly to Apple Watch Water Lock. Here is how to find and use it, plus how to use our tool as a supplement.
Samsung calls this feature Speaker Cleaning or Speaker Clean, and it appears in the Device Care or Battery and Device Care settings on Galaxy S21, S22, S23, S24, S25, Z Fold, and Z Flip series phones. Here is how to access it:
- Go to Settings on your Samsung Galaxy
- Tap Battery and Device Care (or Device Care on older models)
- Scroll down and tap Speaker Cleaning or look for a droplet icon near the bottom of the screen
- Tap the Play button or Start to begin the cleaning cycle
- Hold the phone speaker-side down during the cycle for best results
- Run 2 to 3 times for heavier water exposure
Galaxy A series phones and older Galaxy S models before the S21 do not have a built-in Speaker Cleaning feature. For these models, our browser tool is the correct approach. Samsung Galaxy A54, A35, A55, A34, A14, A53, A52, and similar mid-range models all work well with our tool. Most A series from 2021 onwards have IP67 water resistance ratings, so they can handle minor water exposure and the speaker eject tool clears the grille effectively.

Water Eject Pixel: Google Pixel Complete Guide
Google Pixel phones do not include any built-in water eject or speaker cleaning feature. Stock Android, which powers Pixel devices, has no equivalent to Samsung’s Speaker Cleaning or Apple Watch’s Water Lock. Our browser tool is the primary method for water ejection on Pixel.
All Google Pixel phones from the Pixel 6 onwards are IP67 or IP68 rated, meaning they can handle water exposure to 1 to 2 metres. Despite this, water still gets into the speaker grille during everyday use, and the tone-based eject approach works very well on Pixel’s stereo speaker system.
Pixel 6, 6a, 6 Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, 8, 8a, 8 Pro, 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL all use a stereo speaker setup with a top earpiece speaker and a bottom speaker. Run the eject tool with both speakers in mind by running one cycle with the phone speaker-down and a second cycle with the phone positioned horizontally.
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold: IP68 rated, foldable form factor means run eject with the phone both open and closed to clear moisture from the bottom speaker and hinge area
- Pixel 6a and 7a: IP67 rated, single bottom speaker, run one to two cycles with bottom edge facing down at maximum volume
- Pixel Fold: Run eject cycles with the device in both folded and unfolded positions to address all speaker openings
Water Eject Xiaomi: MIUI, HyperOS, and Browser Method
Xiaomi devices run MIUI or HyperOS, and some newer models include a built-in speaker cleaning or moisture ejection feature buried in the settings. The availability varies significantly between models and regions, so we cover both scenarios below.
On some Xiaomi 14, 13T, 13 Pro, and recent Redmi Note series phones running HyperOS or MIUI 14, a speaker moisture removal feature is available. To check if your device has it:
- Go to Settings on your Xiaomi or Redmi phone
- Use the search bar at the top of Settings and type “speaker” or “clean”
- If a Speaker Cleaning or Sound Cleaning option appears, tap it and follow the on-screen instructions
- If nothing appears, your device does not have this feature and the browser tool is the correct method
For the majority of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices, open ejectwater.com in Chrome or any browser. The tool works identically to Samsung and Pixel. Open the page on the device itself, confirm you are using the phone speaker rather than a Bluetooth device, set media volume to maximum, and run the 165 Hz cycle with the speaker grille facing down.
Xiaomi 14, 14 Ultra, 13 Ultra, Redmi Note 13 Pro, POCO X6 Pro, and similar flagship and upper mid-range devices all have IP ratings and respond well to the eject tone. Budget Xiaomi and Redmi models may have no IP rating, so use 80% to 90% volume rather than maximum to be cautious with unprotected speaker components.
OnePlus, Motorola, Sony, and All Other Android Brands
For every other Android brand, the browser tool is the single correct method since none of them include a built-in speaker water eject feature. Here is what you need to know for the most common additional brands:
OnePlus 12, 11, 10 Pro, Nord 4, and all other OnePlus models use OxygenOS and have no built-in speaker cleaning. Most OnePlus flagship phones carry IP64 to IP65 ratings, making them resistant to water jets rather than submersion. Use our browser tool at maximum volume for 1 to 2 cycles. The dual speaker system on most OnePlus flagships means run both cycles with the phone in different orientations to address all speaker openings.
Motorola Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Ultra, Razr 50, and Moto G85 do not have a built-in water eject feature. Motorola’s water resistance varies by model, with Edge series typically rated IP68 and Moto G series often carrying IP52 or lower ratings. For Moto G and budget Motorola models, use 70% to 80% volume to be gentle with lower-rated speakers. For Edge and Razr flagships, full volume is safe.
Sony Xperia phones are consistently among the most water resistant Android devices, with Xperia 1 VI, Xperia 5 VI, and Xperia 10 VI all carrying IP65 or IP68 ratings. Interestingly, Sony does not include a water eject feature despite their focus on water resistance. Our browser tool works very effectively on Xperia phones. The front-facing stereo speakers on Sony Xperia devices mean you should run one cycle with the phone face-down so the front speakers benefit from gravity during ejection.

Disable Bluetooth Before Ejecting
Before pressing eject, confirm Bluetooth is off or that no Bluetooth audio devices are connected. If a Bluetooth speaker or headphones are connected, Android may route the tone through them rather than the phone speaker. Disconnect any Bluetooth audio device first to ensure the tone plays through the built-in speaker.
Media Volume, Not Ringer Volume
On Android, there are separate volume channels for media, ringtone, notifications, and calls. The web audio played by our tool uses the media volume channel. Press the volume button while the tool is open and confirm the media slider is at maximum. If the ringer slider appears, tap the arrow to expand all volume channels and raise the media one specifically.
Wipe the Speaker Grille First
Before running the tool, gently wipe the speaker grille area with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any surface droplets sitting on the outside mesh. This clears the path for ejected water to exit cleanly and prevents it from immediately re-entering after the tone ends. A dry cloth press for 3 seconds is more effective than wiping.
Tap Between Cycles
Between each 30-second cycle, hold the phone with the speaker facing your palm and give it 3 to 4 firm downward taps. This dislodges any water that the tone has vibrated loose but has not yet fully expelled from the grille. The combination of tone vibration and physical tapping is consistently more effective than either method alone.
Avoid the Rice Myth
Do not put your Android phone in a bag of rice. This is one of the most widely repeated pieces of phone advice and it does not work. Uncooked rice absorbs almost no moisture from inside electronic devices and can introduce starch and dust particles into speaker grilles and ports. Room temperature air drying combined with the eject tool is always the better approach.
No Heat Sources
Do not use a hair dryer, place your phone on a radiator, or leave it in direct sunlight to dry the speaker. Heat above about 35 degrees Celsius can warp the adhesive seals around the speaker and damage the speaker membrane itself. If your phone got cold, bring it to room temperature before running the eject cycle so the water is less viscous and easier to shift.
